These two speed merchants each won a qualifying heat and a national championship. A total of six out of the day's ten events were won on Harley-Davidsons. Riding a Model K, Miller also posted the day's fastest time trial of 31.85 seconds in the 45" division. Fastest time in the 80" class was made by Harley-Davidson rider Paul Meyers of Urbana, Ill. - 32.02 seconds for one lap around the half-mile T.T. course. The first and second qualifying heats were won by Miller and Soderstrom, both riding K models. In the 45" National, Miller streaked across the finish line just ahead of Soderstrom. Jimmy Phillips of Pasadena, Calif., placed third. Paul Meyers, Harley-Davidson, won the first 80" qualifying heat, and Phillips took the second. The 80" National saw Soderstrom roar into the lead on the first lap and increase it all the way. Lee Christian of Lubbock, Texas, on a Harley-Davidson, won the second 80" Consolation. This 14th Victory out of 16 National Championships dramatically proves the superiority in performance and reliability of American-made Harley-Davidsons!
