1958 Bob Sandgren on Triumph TR-6 wins 8th Annual Catalina Grand Prix 2-Page Ad
5000 cycling fans watched Bob Sandgren make history at the 8th Annual Catalina Grand Prix at Catalina Island, California. Mounted on the same Triumph TR-6 with which he won last year's Catalina Sweepstakes, Bob flashed into the lead right from the start. Don Hawley amazed the crowd by leading eight other Triumph Cub riders to a fast, spectacular victory in the 200cc event over a field of competitors that included 32 larger capacity 250cc machines. Don finished 1st overall in Saturday's race.
