"Rubber-Kneed"

These days it seems as if everyone falls into two big categories - filthy rich or dirt poor. While the bucks-down Hog-Ridin' Fool has to break his ass just to keep a little hi-test in the tank, his affluent counterpart may ride simply to keep up with the latest trend. Rather than risk rejection by the Perrier-drinking, sushi-eating, crowd of weenies he calls friends, he dashes down to the dealership, kicks the tires on an accessory-laden floor model, writes a personal check for $18,766.29, and rides off on his new fashion accessory. But back in the days when a man had to live by his wits rather than his wallet, necessity mothered some pretty clever innovations. In this 1980 rendering of yet another rain-ravaged ride, the biker has transformed a couple of trashed inner tubes into protective gear for his legs. "We couldn't afford real chaps," Dave recalls, "so we had to improvise. During the rainy season, we'd oil our jeans till they'd stand up by themselves." I love reminiscing about the good ol' days. Young guys could learn a lot from us old bikers, like the fact that 'way back then, water flew off the front tire in the wrong direction. But try and tell that to kids these days...and they won't believe you.

Great vintage motorcycle artwork print to decorate your office, garage, basement, rec room, man cave & more! Makes a great gift!
