Cover: The closest finish Daytona's famed 200-mile AMA national championship races have ever seen ended with Don Burnett, Danvers, Mass., beating Dick Mann across the finish line by only TEN FEET. Burnett, road racer par excellence, took second place in the 20-miler last year. This year he put on a polished performance as a result of many rehearsals in former road races in the East where he always rode very near the leaders, but never quite made the #1 spot. March 4 was Don Burnett's day, and he presented his lovely wife with a $3500 surprise on their second wedding anniversary. Photo by Robert McVay.
