Catalina Island, May 4: In a hard fought battle on the famous Catalina Island "Road 'n Rough" circuit, Spitfire rider Roger White brought his fast and reliable BSA twin into first position in the Open class. BSA riders Gary Sowell, Arvin Cox, and Gordon Simmons also placed in the first 10 giving BSA by far the best showing in high speed reliability at Catalina; Nick Nicholson aboard a BSA Gold Star won the 350 class and Chuck Minert, also Gold Star mounted was second in the 500 class.
